"Bryan's touches   of humor, naughty, bawdy dialogue and colorful descriptions capture the era, adding dimension   to this charming  tale of a pirate, the hellion who tames him and their wild adventure. The heat rises as their escapades sizzle,  and readers' hearts will race to the delightful conclusion." ~RTBOOKReviews

"Great dialog, interesting side characters (the nieces who are out of control and the crusty, pirate sidekick) and an author who clearly loves her subject matter and I'm there.  For me, you could call this book, Pleasuring the Reader."

"This great Georgian romance is filled with bawdy humor, mindful of Fielding’s classic Tom Jones. The banter between the pirate and the courtesan’s daughter is amusing and heated.  The story line is fast-paced and never slows down.  Emily Bryan provides a powerful historical. The adventures of the pirate and the courtesan's daughter will pleasure the fans."

"A delightful, witty romance with a   pace fast enough to keep me fully engaged. The dialogue between Jack and Gabriel is clever and full of such sly fun that  the pages really   flew by. All I have to do now is find the author’s backlist."

"Bryan's books, with her humor and sensuality, stories with twists to them, and always secondary characters that beg for their own books, are among the best of the current crop of romance writers."

"Half way through Pleasuring the Pirate I ordered the author's first book. I already knew I wanted to read more of Emily Bryan."

The Voters have spoken!

The race was a tight one. Only one vote separated the top name from 2nd place, and several others were very close, but the favorite pirate name is:

Captain Greydon Quinn, the Wraith of St. Jude

The winning name was submitted by Lisa M. of Aliquippa PA.

Winner of the voter drawing is Robin W. of Raleigh, NC.

All the finalists will receive signed copies of PLEASURING THE PIRATE!

Thank you so much to everyone who submitted a pirate name or voted for your favorite! I hope you had fun. I sure did.

You didn't win? There's another contest starting NOW! Pop over to enter my WORD OF MOUSE contest! I can't wait to see how far my VEXING THE VISCOUNT video goes round the country and the world!

Pirate Name Finalists! (in no particular order)

Arabella Du Bois, The Bell

      - I could see this madame of the seas quite clearly, elegant and deadly. She's definitely a lady with a past . . . and maybe a grudge to settle in the future.

Hornswogglin' Holly, Hold onto yer Belongin's

      - This made me laugh! The bag-lady of the Caribbean!

Stabber Stella, Neurotic Sea Wench

      - She's a terror in a melee, but I bet her mates sleep lightly when she's in the next hammock.

Captain Ian Michael Wycked, "I.M. Wycked"

      - My DH picked this one. He loves puns. Don't tell him I think Ian Michael Wycked sounds sort of sexy, too!

Greenbeard, aka "Old Moldly"

      - Can we say clever? This entry took a pirate stereotype and gave it such a fun twist.

Captain Iva Gott Scurvey

       - Any entry that made Diet Coke shoot out my nose had to be included in the finalists.

Captain Billy Blackjack, Butcher of Barbados

       - Loved the alliteration. No wonder my book titles are PLEASURING THE PIRATE, DISTRACTING THE DUCHESS and coming March 2009 VEXING THE VISCOUNT!

Iron Balls McCormmick

       - There's a picture! Oh! You meant cannon balls? Sorry. My bad. . .

Captain Sebastian Ashley Bennington

       - A gentleman-turned-pirate, dark, hawkish good looks, a smoky voice, and a wicked hand with a blade. The Scarlet Pimpernel of the Seas.

Captain Greydon Quinn, the Wraith of St. Jude

       - Definitely a ghost pirate here. Almost like an avenging angel, with his halo slightly askew.

For your enjoyment, I'm leaving up all the original entries.

Warning: May cause whatever you're drinking to spew out your nose!
